​A brief review of the quantum of a claim and informal advice involving a few

hours work

 

​  Advice and assistance prior to and during a mediation

 

​  Preparing with the client and its legal advisers submissions to a jointly-

appointed expert or valuer and replies to submissions

 

​  Working together with a client and its legal advisers to develop and advise on

the quantum of large and complex claims

 

In another recent multi-million pound case, a detailed and critical review of

the other party’s claim for quantum which had to be carried out against a very tight timetable, enabled a manufacturing client to settle the matter at mediation at a sum which was a fraction of the amount claimed.

 

In this latter role we have recently worked with a major public sector client and its legal advisers to establish the quantum of a claim running to hundreds of millions of pounds. We have gone on to advise on a counterclaim and to work alongside the client’s accounting expert witness (a partner in a top-10 firm of chartered accountants).
